LittleKid*BigFaith

So last night I experienced a precious moment that I had to share. I almost reduced it to a mere facebook status when I realized it was more than that. It was a story. One that deserved attention.

I have been staying with some friends of  mine and their little girl, who is four-years old. She is absolutely adorable, and lately has started to truly become the sweetest little girl I have ever met. Unfortunately, I have been struggling with either a cold or sinuses, I am not sure which. The change of season confuses my body, and takes me down to sniffles and lack of voice. Zoie, the little girl, wanted me to read her bedtime story last night and had a stack of Disney stories from which to read. My voice quickly fading, I told her I would only read one because my voice was leaving. Saying nothing, the settled in and listened to 101 Dalmatians as I tried desperately to pull-off a decent sounding British accent without coughing. When the story was finally told, I laid the book down, expecting an argument on her part for another story. After all, she is four. Instead, though, She grabbed the stack of books and told me, "Ashley, you don't have to read these books tonight, because your voice is going away. Now, I am going to pray for you. "

My friend and I looked at each in surprise, but smiled and bowed our heads, not sure of what was coming next. This is the prayer, best as I can remember it.

"Jesus, I thank you for my Ashley. Thank you for her heart, and please heal her voice and make it better. Make it stop going, going, going, going, and going. (Ashley, you have to close your eyes!) and Jesus, Thank you for her and I love her. Jesus, amen."

The prayer was a little longer than that, but you get the picture. It was possibly the sweetest prayer I have ever had prayed over me, as she had her legs across my back and her little blue eyes closed. she prayed with faith, love and hope. I was amazed and touched. This small child has the heart of her Savior. She cares. She believes. A lesson I think we could all learn from.

P.S. I am feeling better today. . .

Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
